About the Building Passport
Source: www.bafu.admin.ch

To make all product data and property information available throughout the entire life cycle – without increasing construction costs.

We target all stakeholders in the real estate industry, especially owners and developers , who are looking for a digital solution that improves construction site logistics, supports the circular economy, strengthens quality assurance throughout the entire life cycle and protects their investment.
The Swiss Building Passport is like a central folder for your building – just digital. It collects and securely stores all relevant information about the property throughout its entire lifecycle. This includes, for example:
  • Building plans, permits and technical specifications
  • Energy certificates (previous and current)
  • Inspection and control reports (e.g. heating, ventilation)
  • Information on renovations, refurbishments and materials used
  • Information/Data on technical systems, including maintenance and service documentation
The Building Passport therefore provides a record of how the building was actually constructed and how it has evolved over the years – from its initial construction to the present day. The relevant date to record installed products can either be during the construction of new buildings, or, from a defined reference date onwards for existing buildings.
Everything in one place – secure and well organised
The Building Passport brings together all relevant information about your property in one place – securely stored in Switzerland. Thus nothing is lost and a clear overview is retained at all times.
Clarity creates confidence
You always know which information is up to date, what is missing and what is reliable. This facilitates decision-making and reduces risks.
Always up to date
Changes, renovations or new installations can be added at any time and remain permanently traceable.
For today and tomorrow
All data is retained over the long term – including for future generations.
Shared access for everyone
Owners, professionals and project partners all work with the same information. This saves time and prevents misunderstandings.
Better decisions for existing buildings
For existing buildings in particular, the Building Passport supports informed decisions for example when planning refurbishments or investments.

The building passport is sponsored by a not-for-profit organization.
